OK. HERE WE GO - More Info:
There was indeed a suspension on the "RECOMMENDED PERSONNEL MATTERS" Board Approved, Date: October 28, 2008 list from Tuesday's Board meeting. Not Mr. Todd Thompson, but someone else at another Wayne County school. Preliminary info indicates this suspension may be related to a violation of both the WVDE and Wayne County Safe & Acceptable Use of Internet policies.

When did they discover this employee's offense? Was it before Mike Rutherford's discovery on Thursday, October 23, 2008 of Mr. Todd Thompson's violation (again) of WVDE & Wayne County Acceptable Use of Internet polices by his re-posting multiple bogus SVHS webpages containing unauthorized photos of current and former SVHS students and soliticing inappropriate contact with minors and/or students via his WVNET access email?

OK. The CLOCK's ticking on that.

TICK. TICK. TICK.

The Superintendent must act. The Board must act.

The next Board Meeting is not until (Thursday) November 13th! It is supposed to be the big (once a year meeting) where all the LSICs from all the local elementary schools, middle schools, and SVHS (8 schools total) meet and the principals give their "Our School is Doing Great" reports to the Board.

(And thank you everyone who sent info regarding this and other matters)

Has the media been contacted about this situation? If not, may I recommend contacting the Herald Dispatch and local news stations.

You might want to note that today Oct. 30 Mr. Thompson had a parent of a young female student contact Mr. Swan because of Thompson's actions towards his daughter. Keep building your case Mrs. Rucker and good luck with all you are doing.

Yes.

Information has been delivered to all local TV stations and local newspapers, both print and online. I have spoken to two different reporters at the Herald-Dispatch and just replied to an email I received from them. They are working on a story.I believe they have left messages with others in the County seeking comment on the issues that have been raised.

I'll try to post the text of the email I sent back to the Herald-Dispatch today.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

I am relieved parents are hearing things from their kids.

That's one of the worst things about this whole mess. I think a lot of the kids were afraid to tell their parents anything. I think they were afraid their parents would get mad, call school or the board, then nothing would happen to him, then they would be trapped at school with him, and would be on his radar. I think teachers felt that way too.

Thanks. I need all the luck I can get.

Good Luck Mrs. Rucker and I applaud you for taking a stand against the system - you have a tough fight ahead of you. All the corrupt doings at the Wayne County Board of Education should be exposed along with Mr. Gary Adkins. I hope you can accomplish this!!

You are right about a tough fight ahead. But I am not alone. A lot of brave people are coming forward, speaking up, putting themselves in front of very angry men who are not nice to people who question their decisions. Incredibly brave people. I do write the letters and make contacts to get the word out. I try to do very thorough research. And we all are watching everything they do. And listening carefully to everyone who comes to us with concerns or information.
